The Institute of Marine Affairs (IMA) is located in Chaguaramas in the north west peninsula of Trinidad, Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, the most southerly islands in the Caribbean Archipelago (see map), within 10° 02' - 11° 21' Latitude and 60° 31' - 62° 01' Longitude, at an elevation of 23 m and a distance of 500 m from the sea.

The Institute’s buildings are located on seven acres of land that accommodates laboratories, research and administrative staff buildings, an Information Centre including a library, and a Support Services workshop for vessels and vehicles. There are also aquaculture ponds, and an intensive aquaculture recirculating system.
