Celebrating Service, Dedication and the IMA Family

On August 24, 2026, the Institute of Marine Affairs (IMA) came together to celebrate four remarkable members of the IMA family as they begin a new chapter in their lives.

The Retirement Function honoured Mr. Addison Titus, Mr. Dennis Carter, Ms. Rosemarie Kishore and Ms. Christine Thomas-Dookie, recognising their years of dedicated service and the many contributions they have made to the Institute and to Trinidad and Tobago.

Together, the four retirees represent more than 100 years of combined service to the IMA, a remarkable milestone that speaks to their dedication, knowledge, professionalism and commitment over the course of their careers.

Each retiree contributed to the Institute in their own unique way. Their careers spanned areas including marine science and fieldwork, fisheries and aquaculture, craftsmanship, information services and the day-to-day work that keeps an institution moving forward. While their roles and experiences differed, they shared a common commitment to the IMA and its work.

The celebration provided an opportunity for colleagues to reflect on their contributions, share memories and express their appreciation. Through heartfelt tributes, a special video presentation, music, the presentation of retirement tokens and words from the retirees themselves, the afternoon was filled with warmth, laughter and a few emotional moments.

More than a farewell, the occasion was a celebration of the people behind the Institute, the colleagues who became friends, mentors and an important part of the IMA family.

As Addison, Dennis, Rosemarie and Christine move into this next chapter, the IMA extends its sincere gratitude for their years of service, friendship and commitment.
