Where is the IMA located?
The Institute of Marine Affairs (IMA) is located in Chaguaramas in the northwest peninsula of Trinidad, Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
Are there any other branches of the IMA?
No. The only office for the IMA is located in Chaguaramas, Trinidad.

Are the IMA and the EMA the same organization?
No. The IMA (Institute of Marine Affairs) and the EMA (Environmental Management Authority) are separate entities.
What are the opening hours of the Library?
The Library is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. It is closed on weekends and designated public holidays.
Are members of the public allowed to borrow items from the Library?
No. Patrons can use non-restricted documents and, for a small fee, make copies of portions of documents.

No, the IMA does not sell fish and shrimp to the public.
Does IMA facilitate tours?

Does IMA visit schools to give lectures?
Yes, IMA has a school and community outreach programme; staff visit schools to present on marine and environmentally related topics.
Where can I purchase an IMA calendar?
IMA tidal calendars can be purchased from the Information Centre at the IMA’s office in Chaguaramas or at R.I.K Services Ltd, UWI Bookshop, Rainy Days Gift Shop, Ellersile Plaza, Mohammed’s Book Store Assosicates Ltd. The News Stand, ANR Int’l. Airport, Tobago.
Does the IMA offer SCUBA diving lessons?
No, the IMA does not offer SCUBA diving lessons.
Does IMA do beach/river cleanups?
The IMA is involved in the International Coastal Cleanup which is a data collection and public education/awareness activity organised in conjunction with the Ocean Conservancy, through the National Planning Committee of Trinidad and Tobago. It is held annually on the third Saturday in September.
What kind of educational material does IMA give to schools?
IMA distributes brochures on topics such as Marine Pollution, Harmful Marine Creatures, Beach Safety, Global Warming and Coral Reefs, Carbon Footprint, Marine Mammals, Mangrove Swamps.
Are there any courses in Marine Sciences offered at IMA?
No, the IMA does not offer courses in Marine Sciences.
