IMA Extends Condolences on the Passing of Mr. Mark Loquan

A recipient of the Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago (ORTT) and former President of the National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago (NGC), Mr. Loquan championed environmental conservation, evident through his visionary leadership in successfully leading the NGC to collaborate with the IMA on a landmark project to rehabilitate mangrove forests in the  Couva/Point Lisas area.  A project, which to this day, continues unabated where both the collaborative partnership between the IMA and NGC has led to community engagement, a beach clean-up and ongoing community school awareness and outreach campaigns in an attempt to promote mangrove conservation.

He was equally known for his dedication to culture as a pan aficionado and his passion for all types of creativity.  His support for the latter, saw him endorse the literary contributions generated by the IMA through his tremendous support that facilitated the publication of two educational book on coastal and marine conservation – ‘Guide to the Beaches and Bays of Trinidad and Tobago’ and, the ‘Life along the Sea Shore of Trinidad and Tobago’.  The IMA remembers Mr. Loquan for his work ethic and his commitment to completing the task at hand.

On behalf of the Board of Governors, Management and Staff, the IMA extends heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Mr. Mark Loquan, a son of the soil, who served with determination and passion, and who made an enduring contribution to the progress of the energy sector in Trinidad and Tobago – a hallmark of his professional life.

May his loved ones find strength during this difficult time and may his vision and legacy continue to inspire us all.
